Congratulations Simon!
Warning – please get through the next paragraph. It will hopefully be worth it!
Above is a blurry (taken by me – needless to say I am not a professional photographer) picture of our Assistant Division Director (i.e. super dedicated person who helps clubs around this area) Jane Craggs and current Leeds City Toastmasters President and Vice President of Membership Simon Day. Simon is holding the plaque he received for being one of five runners up in the 2016/17 District 71 Vice President of Membership of the Year award, placing in the top six out of more than 185 clubs around the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
So congratulations Simon for your achievement and thank you for doing so much for our club, including holding two committee roles this year!
But what does all this bureaucratic language mean for you if you’re a potential new member of Leeds City Toastmasters?
It means:
- The club continually attracts new members (presumably because they like what they see when they visit a meeting!)
- We have a very hard working and committed club president/VP membership who is guiding the club forward
- We are part of a huge organisation of public speaking clubs and benefit from the support of other Toastmasters members in Yorkshire, the UK and around the world
- Toastmasters is an organisation committed to recognising and celebrating the achievements of our members
And if you can bear more tooting of our own horn, I will also say that White Rose Speakers is a President’s Distinguished Club three years running – more jargon, but it means they have achieved the highest rating a Toastmasters club can in three consecutive years – a serious achievement.
Both our clubs are open to all (age 18+), so please feel free to come to one or both of them if you would like to. To see the date of our next meetings, just click the links to the club pages above.
