Approximately 90-95% of Toastmasters members joined because they had to address a small group of people on a regular basis. In many cases, the group was as small as 6-8 people.
In this type of situation, for example a committee meeting, a member may have had the knowledge, but lacked experience of communicating his or her ideas to other members of the group.
In the warm, friendly atmosphere of a Toastmasters club, members have found that they overcame nerves, gained tremendous confidence and assertiveness and were able to motivate their fellow workers.
Teachers, bankers, farmers, tradesmen, engineers, accountants and others have all benefited from the lively and interesting interaction with other members of a Toastmasters club. Some work in corporate life (private, public and voluntary sectors); some are self-employed; others are retired. Whether it’s local community needs, presentations in a corporate environment or simply improving your self-confidence, Toastmasters can help you.
