I walked into a Toastmasters meeting in 2017, looking for communication tips before my impending viva.  I was not sure what to expect. What I found that evening was a diverse group of people brought together by their relentless efforts to improve. Since that night I have attended as many meetings as I could, developed skills as a speaker, slowly taken up more challenging roles in meetings and seen myself grow in confidence. I have gained a lot from watching others speak and listening to the stories they have to tell. At every step of this journey I have received invaluable support and guidance from fellow club members. I have also had the opportunity to serve the club as a committee member for a few years now, which has been a most enriching experience. The club is full of people who are warm, welcoming and inspiring and I can confidently say that Toastmasters has impacted my life beyond public speaking. I recommend Leeds City Toastmasters to anyone wanting to improve their communication skills and ready to commit to long term self-development.
